 Multiple losses and clinical disease observed  in sheep, pronghorn,  mule deer and white tailed deer in this region

 of Montana in the fall of  2007.

 

Multiple isolates of  BTV-17 were made from animals in Musselshell, Rosebud

 and Custer counties.

However, type specific RT-PCR  and sequencing (Seg-2)  March 2008 identified type 17 [1]. Attempts to detect type 4 with multiple primers sets failed
